Overview
To combat declining FAFSA (Financial Aid) applications, Misfit partnered with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office to amplify student voices through ICANGoToCollege.com. Our strategy blended influencer partnerships, peer-to-peer student ambassador content, and targeted paid social to reach students authentically and drive action.
We built and managed a roster of 50+ student ambassadors who created multilingual videos in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Tagalog. These student-led stories about financial aid, enrollment, and campus resources achieved significantly higher engagement than static posts and offered a credible, relatable way to connect with peers. Influencer partners extended the campaign’s reach, generating millions of impressions across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, while modest paid boosts helped drive webinar registrations and FAFSA completions.
Instead of rigid scripts, ambassadors receive talking points on financial aid, enrollment, and student resources, ensuring authenticity while aligning with campaign goals. These organic videos complement our paid media strategy, reinforcing messages across multiple touchpoints.
Impact & Results
In 2024, the I CAN campaign produced 93 videos in five languages (English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Tagalog) across seven (7) student campaigns. Ten (10) more campaigns are planned through 2025.
Campaign data confirms students are650% more likely to take action after watching an ambassador video compared to previous static posts, and engagement rates are three times higher than the industry standard.
